White collar jobs to feel squeeze

It’s election season again, and besides all the usual TV coverage, campaigning and canvassing it means that those of us looking for work could well be looking around for a while longer.

Recruitment experts are expecting a small downturn in the number of vacancies posted during the pre-election period. They claim this is partly due to businesses wanting to leave any financial decisions until after the results of the election are announced and any impact to their financial forecasts are fully understood.

Any long term impact is expected to be limited, however, as companies are expected to increase recruitment as the economy recovers. In real terms, compared to last year, they also claim the job market is a lot healthier over the year from March 2009 to March 2010.
