The Chief Executive of Lloyds is set to Receive a 6 Figure Bonus

Bankers pay has become a very controversial topic. The public are calling for a ban on big bonuses while the banks say bonuses are necessary in order to keep it p ay competitive and keep their staff.

However the bonuses that some employees gets seems ridiculous. This is evident in Lloyds where their Chief Executive Eric Daniels is set to receive up to £2.83m in shares on top of his regular annual bonus of £2.3m. This bonus is over 200% of Mr Daniels salary, and to those who are still unemployed and struggling as a result of the banking crisis, will be extremely annoyed at this announcement.

I like an analogy used on mock the week, which uses the example of a team of football players who have played badly all season and get relegated from the league. These players would not be paid more money to stay. In fact, the manager would probably be sacked and a better one employed.

If banks continue to award their staff these type of bonuses it set to be a controversial topic for many months to come.
